Countdown To A Hope Undaunted: My #9 "Can't-Wait-To-Read" of 2010

Welcome back to day 2 of Countdown To A Hope Undaunted, Y'all! I hope you guys got a chance to enter the giveaway on yesterday's post and if you haven't, go HERE and enter. The giveaway will end on Sept 1st. , so you have plenty time from now until then.

Before I announce my #9 "Can't Wait-To-Read" of 2010, I wanted to ask Y'all which characters in any of Julie's other books, you're most excited about seeing again, in A Hope Undaunted, and why?

I'd have to say Lizzie, Brady, Faith and Colin

are the characters I'm most excited about seeing again. Because, in A Passion Denied, we never really got to see Lizzie and Brady as a married couple and can't wait to see if Lizzie has any little ones running about. And Faith and Colin just because they have been my favorite pair out of all the Daughter's Of Boston books; but that may all change with Katie and Cluny and they're fiery duo.Link

So, now for my #9 "Can't-Wait-To-Read" of 2010

Love On A Dime by Cara Lynn James
Back cover (from Thomas Nelson):

In age of elegance and excess, Lilly Westbrook longs for a love both true and eternal.
Newport, Rhode Island, 1899, is a place of shimmering waves, sleek yachts, and ladies of leisure. Of opulent mansions that serve as summer cottages for the rich and famous. Home of railroad magnates and banking tycoons--dashing young men and the women who aspire to marry them.
But it's not the place for lady novelists. Especially not those who pen disreputable dime novels. This poses a problem for Lilly Westbrook, because that's exactly what she does.
No one in Lilly's social set knows she pens fiction under the nom de plume Fannie Cole. Not her family or the wealthy young man about to propose to her. And especially not Jackson Grail, the long-lost beau who just bought her publishing company...and who stirs her heart more than she cares to admit.
But Lilly must put aside her feelings and follow the path that will maintain her family's social stature and provide the financial security that everyone is depending on.
Now Lilly faces a double dilemma. Can she continue to protect her secret identity? And will she have the courage to choose the man who will risk it all just to win her heart?

Why it's my #9?: I LOVE dime novels; so, to find a book about a dime novel author, whose a women no less, is a book I know I have to read. And in a book, when you give a girl to handsome men to choose from, you it's going to make for a one very interesting book.
Thank you Casey, for sending me Love On A Dime. I just hope I can get around to reading it sooner rather than later;)

So what your #9 "Can't-Wait-To-Read" of 2010?

Ashley

  1. Favorite character to see again? Easy! Faith and Collin. Especially Faith. I connect with her, simply because we share so many of the same values. I can't wait to reconnect with the O'Connor family period though. I feel like I just might be one of them. I miss them!! :)

My #9 can't wait for read is Softly and Tenderly by Rachel Hauck and Sara Evans. After the first one and teasers about the second one, I hope to get this one soon and that it will come up for review and I don't miss it! :)

Good, only 8 more days!!!!!! ;D

  2. Hmmm...I agree that I'm eager to see more about Faith and Collin. :) It will be good to see Patrick and Mary again, too! I think it will be good just to catch up with the whole family, as Casey said. ;)

I listed some of my can't-wait-to-read books yesterday, but here's another one:

    Nightingale by Susan May Warren

Oh, I so badly hope I can get on the Litfuse tour for this one!!! I loved Sons of Thunder, and I can't wait to read this next one!

Only 8 more days?! Woohoo!!! I confess, I'm going to be so bummed if it comes to my home after I leave for school, and my mom will have to send it up to me. That would entail more waiting and more patience... *sigh*

  5. Oh, great question! I'm most eager to hear what's going on with Faith and Collin. I love them together and I want to know if they have kids now.

Love on a Dime sounds like a cute book! Great, another one to add to my growing reading list. ;)

  8. I guess I would have to agree, Collin & Faith.

Love on a Dime is also on my must read list. I normally don't number mine past #1 and #2 as I tend to change my mind. :)

  9. Casey~ I feel like a part of the O'Connor clan, too. And Faith is such a character to admire, that I find myself asking: "What would Faith do, if she were me?".
And you're right, Casey; God is definitely trying to get us to practice a little patience

Amber~ I can't for Nightingale, either. Thought, I haven't been able to read SOT, and I have a feeling that I should read the books in order, right?
And I know how you feel about AHU coming while you're at school; I have to go up to NC Sept. 1st, and I hope I doesn't come in the mail while I'm away.

Sara~ I tell you a secret, but you have promise not to tell, okay? In AHU, Faith and Colin have three little girls, but Colin is desperate to have a boy. But, you didn't hear that from, okay?LOL;)

Tammy~ I LOVE the cover for Love Me Tender, very retro. :D And the book sounds so good!

Cindy~ I'm glad you're excited about Love On A Dime, too. And I know what you mean about changing your mind. With so many books coming out through out the year, it's hard to list them from least to greatest when they all look so good. ;)

  10. I can't wait either... I can't think of any other books right now because I'm so distracted by the fact you just revealed that Collin and Faith have little girls but he wants a boy. That sounds so very like Collin! lol They are my favorite couple and I can't wait to read more about them. I think I could read another book just about them and be perfectly happy. :o)

  11. ASHLEY!!! What a FUN question!! And since all my buds here said Faith and Collin (and Marcy and Patrick), you all are in luck because the only two who have subordinate stories in A Hope Undaunted are ... Faith & Collin and Marcy & Patrick, although the whole family is heavily involved. I think you will LOVE both of the substories in AHU, because I know I do!! :)

Originally I had a substory for EVERY couple, but my editor nixed that real quick because she said new readers would be overwhelmed and not able to keep up, so she made me choose. So I lifted Charity and Mitch's substory (one of my favorites because you will NOT believe what Charity does!)from AHU and plopped it into A Heart Revealed instead, which makes sense because AHR is Emma's story, and Charity is her best friend.

That said, each substory follows the order of the DOB series, with Faith & Collin's substory in book 1 of Winds of Change series, Charity and Mitch's substory in book 2 and Brady and Lizzie's substory in book 3. Marcy and Patrick, of course, will have a substory in each book.

AND ... in A Heart Revealed, Katie and Cluny have a WONDERFUL substory as well. :)

Thank you SOOO much, my friends, for your excitement and enthusiasm for AHU -- you bless me to no end!

    Hugs,
    Julie

  12. Lee~ I know what you mean. Julie keeps on hinting at things that will happen in AHU, and I keep racking my brain as to what.
And I definitely think there could be another Faith & Collin book. They're such a great couple, but, I have a feeling that Katie and Cluny will soon become my favorite pair.

Julie~ I hope you're not mad at me for spilling the beans about Faith & Collin's little girls. And I live for substories; cause, I already know whats going to happen at the end of most romance novels. But, with a substory, the possibilities are endless as to what could happen. ;)

    Love Y'all,
    Ashley
